“I show women how completely violent it is to compare themselves to anyone else,” Simmi says.

She left South Carolina to get a degree from the Fashion Institute in New York, then came back  and joined her family’s business, Exotica.  “I worked with women, helping them feel better through clothing and the enhancement of self-image. All of a sudden it seemed like that wasn’t enough.”

Simmi began exploring spirituality, a quest that led her to teachers and mystics all over the country.  Then, she took a chance on creating a retreat center called Believe.  “The idea dropped into my head 5 years ago and coincidentally I found property with a 40 acre pond, so I bought it.”

Now, she advises others who want to take a chance and realize a dream: “Feel the fear and do it anyway.  That’s my number one motto.”

Learn more about Simmi’s work and the retreat  center she’s created at BelieveSC.com.
