In London, Freya worked for ScreenFace, doing makeup for movie actors and models including Kate Moss. 

She moved to Columbia three years ago and recently launched Smashbox by Freya at the J. Thomas Salon. 

"Makeup won't cover up any personal insecurities," she says, "but can make you feel amazing."

What is the one truth about makeup that most women don't know but should?
Most women don't know the importance of having good brushes as a foundation for having a great look. They allow you to be creative and be your own artist. They also save your product!  Using a brush uses less product saving you time and money. Foundation is blended more smoothly and a lot more lightweight, giving you a flawless, even complexion.

What is the biggest misconception about makeup?
A lot of women are worried that makeup makes them look fake, it takes too long to apply, or that they don't know how to wear it. Makeup is not as hard as it looks, for a natural look only takes between 5 and 10 minutes. A little bit of makeup can boost any woman's confidence.  Who wouldn’t want to feel that extra bit special?

What do most women consider daring when it comes to makeup?
Color seems to be the most daring part of makeup for most women whether it be a bright eye shadow, a new blush, or an intense lipstick color.

If you could dare a woman to try something new with her makeup, what would you dare her to try?
I would dare her to try something new–step outside your natural comfort zone and do something different. If you normally wear neutral colors try a bright lip for a pop of color. Or if you wear bright color, try a more natural look. Or even a color you never would normally wear–give it a try!
