Cover Artist Among Us

The illustration for this month’s skirt! cover is by Penelope Dullaghan, who lives in Columbia.

Penelope regularly works for national publications and some big clients (including Target, for whom she illustrates gift cards) out of her studio here. She moved to Columbia not that long ago and was our 24/7 feature in April 2007.

Beyond skirt! covers and Target cards, you can see more of Penelope’s work at her website.  She also blogs from around town (and feels your parking meter pain).  

Penelope is behind another website—Illustration Friday—that offers a weekly illustration challenge.  For example, this week’s topic is “Leap”.  You have all week to come up with your interpretation, then post it to the site.  

Illustration Friday is open to artists of every level, and anyone can suggest a topic.  This site was just featured in the spring issue of Artful Blogging.

Penelope is also teaching at the Squam Art Workshops in New Hampshire, three-day art programs held on the shores of Lake Squam.  Registration opens this week.  Go here to learn more.
