The F-Word Issue

THEMECANDIDATE_RIGHT_.jpgHere we go again, throwing the F-word around.

This month, the F-word is First….the first time we’ve devoted our profiles section to men (and they aren’t wearing skirts).

The F-word is Fast…one of the fastest female hurdlers of all time has been training for the Olympics in our town.  Lashinda Demus already deserves a gold medal:  she gave birth to twins last summer and less than a year later, set the world’s leading time in the 400 meter hurdles.

Lashinda has been a track star since high school, was a national champion at the University of South Carolina, and has a mom who was a national champion runner too.  Catch up with her on our 24-7 page.

Then there’s the F-word I hate to use (at least in this case)…Farewell.  We bid a fond one to WIS news anchor Craig Melvin.  At the end of July, he’s heading to Washington D.C.  An unabashed skirt! reader, Craig promised that before he left, he’d wear a skirt to bring attention to his favorite cause.  You can find out what’s up (aside from Craig’s hemline) on our He’s So Original page.

Of course, any summer in Columbia, the rudest F-word is Fahrenheit.  Cross your fingers; hope for cool.
