Take the Orangeburg Exit

Wednesday, June, 25, 2008

Next time I’m zipping down I-26 around dinner time, I’ll be curious to stop in Orangeburg and try a restaurant called Four Moons.  It’s officially opening this week.

I’m from a small town (pop. 85).  Our little town has just two restaurants—Mae’s and Ola Mae’s—and though we love them both, Mae and Ola Mae stick to your basic meat and three. When a new restaurant opens anywhere around, one that promises something a little different, everyone gets excited.

Orangeburg is a bigger town (pop. 13,000+) with more than two restaurants for sure.

But it sounds like Four Moons is providing a new, fine dining sort of choice.  Michael Tourville, a VP at Zeus Corporation (you’ve probably driven past it on I-26) is the restaurant owner.

Colleen_Zeran_TD.jpg He’s brought in executive chef Charles Zeran, pastry chef Colleen Zeran (at right), and a sommelier—which makes me think that if nothing else, they’ll be able to pair your meat and three with a nice bottle of wine (though that might require you to delay the rest of your road trip.)

The menu has categories such as “raw bites” and “martinis” with dishes that include seared foie gras on brioche and macaroni and cheese with lobster.

Open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner.  Menu, driving directions and more at fourmoons.com.  If you go, let us know what you think.  Here’s what one Orangeburg resident had to say.
