My Summer Reading List

Wednesday, July, 2, 2008

So in addition to the books I have to read for school (that I mentioned in my previous post), I thought I’d include my list of books I’ve read so far this summer, books I’m in the midst of right now, and books sitting on my bedside table waiting to be read...

Finished Books:

Chasing Harry Winston By Lauren Weisberger.- From the woman who wrote The Devil Wears Prada. Less label-whoring in this novel, but equally as fun to read as her first book.

Hotel Patis by Peter Mayle- From the author who wrote A Good Year.  Paints a very vivid picture of small village life in Provence, combined with a robbery, kidnapping and a little romance.

The Queen of Babble In The Big City by Meg Cabot.- A good beach read about a girl who’s mouth continually gets her into trouble.

Clapton: An Autobiography by Eric Clapton.- If you are a huge fan of his music, then you already knew that Layla and Wonderful Tonight were both written about George Harrison’s wife. It is a great book, and gives you a great view into the life of one of the greatest guitar gods.

Secret Society Girl andUnder the Rose and The Rites of Spring (Break)* by Diana Peterfreund- Set at fictional Ivy League School, Eli (cough cough YALE), these three novels follow Amy Haskell as she is tapped into one of the most prestigeous Secret Societies- Rose and Grave (cough cough Scull and Bones).  Very entertaining and quick to read.

I am currently reading:

Beginner’s Greek by James Collins.  – More on this later, once I have gotten a little further in it!

*Don’t judge me, or my love of extremely silly chick-lit. I have to read something before I go to bed to get my mind off of the deep thoughts brought up by Said’s Orientalism.
