88 Years of Voting

Monday, August, 25, 2008

156004r_1.jpgSouth Carolinian Anita Pollitzer is said to have secured the last vote needed to ratify the 19th Amendment

Tomorrow marks the 88th anniversary of that amendment becoming part of our constitution:  the official name is Women’s Equality Day though there are plenty of reasons to quibble with that title.

A Tuscon newspaper makes a great suggestion for how you can honor the work of suffragists like Pollitzer, Eulalie Salley, and Susan Pringle Frost :  make sure you’re registered to vote.

In South Carolina, this website lets you check your voter registration status and gives you all the details for how to register.
