Ellyn had recently divorced and enrolled to study nuclear medicine when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a mastectomy, then chemotherapy.
Now she works at the Palmetto Health South Carolina Comprehensive Breast Center, alongside the people she credits for saving her life. She’s also leading this year’s Walk for Life.
Here are Ellyn’s five rules for living:
Have faith: it gets you through the toughest times and gives you peace that passes all understanding.
Love God, family and friends: love is calming and protective.
Find strength through God’s grace and mercy, which are everlasting.
Hope: it gives you the courage to face a new day.
Walk: for yourself, for others, to find a cure.
Consider joining Ellyn at this year’s Walk for Life...Steps Against Breast Cancer on Saturday, October 4, 9am at Finlay Park.
The walk is organized by Palmetto Health Foundation. Deadline for team registration is September 12. Individual registration remains open until October 2.
Last year, more than 11,000 walkers raised over $400,000 to benefit the Palmetto Health South Carolina Comprehensive Breast Center.
