Make that “He’s So Skirt” this month, since we’re featuring men on our profile pages in July. We invited local guys to tell us why they’re feminists. Here’s what we found out:

“I’m a feminist because I believe that when you're on the pitch, it doesn't matter what gender you are but that you play rugby with your heart. I helped establish a women's team because I believe women deserve the opportunity. I coach and support them because I believe in them."

Chuck helps us make it a “He’s So Skirt” issue and tells us why he’s a feminist:

“I am a feminist because the more feminist I become, the freer I am as a man and human being. In ancient creation stories told worldwide, the first human separated into reflexive man and woman. To not be a feminist is to deny my manhood and beingness.”

Okay, for one month, let’s call it “He’s So Skirt”. We turned our profiles over to the guys in July and asked local men to tell us why they’re feminists. Here’s what Jay says:

“I”m a feminist because of my mother. I was raised by a very strong woman. I saw first hand how difficult things can be when it’s one person working against the odds. My mother taught me that determination and hard work transcend gender.”
